I got into crystals after my spiritual awakening one day when I went into a metaphysical store to take a look around. I saw these little, beautiful stones all piled up in a bowl on the counter. I picked one up to take a look and I felt the energy move up my hand. I thought I was imagining things for a minute there, but for weeks as I continued to go there and pick them up, I felt it each time. I asked the lady working there, who explained the healing and energetic properties of crystals. I knew I had to start working with them because of the connection I felt with them. Not to mention how beautiful they are.
How to Choose Your Crystals
As a newbie with crystals, I would go to the metaphysical store and look at the crystals,
When I first started incorporating crystals into my meditations, I would find a guided meditation on YouTube for whatever topic I wanted help with, such as chakra balancing or removing negative energy. I would then place the crystals on me, near me, or around me. I would also put them on my alter during meditations and rituals.
Here Are Some Great Starter Stones for You
Amethyst is a great starter stone. It is a beautiful deep purple color. I have a large one up in my home for display. I also have a smaller one in raw form in my room. Amethyst supports spiritual protection, helping to aid inner strength and clarity of mind, which makes them a great stone to have for meditation. I use Amethyst in Reiki because it is known as the elevator for it is a powerful stone aiding spiritual enhancement, inspiring healing, intuition.
Clear Quartz is one of the most popular stones because it is versatile and the easy to program for a specific intention. This stone can receive, activate, transmit, and powerfully amplify energy and intention. It is helpful to strengthen the auric field and gets rid of negativity in your auric field, and in the environment around you.
I use this one in Reiki to channel healing energy, which also helps to clear and align all the chakras.
Rose Quartz is known as the love stone. It is a pretty pink with lovely energetic properties. This stone’s healing properties promote forgiveness, compassion, and enhancing awareness of your true self, fostering self-love. It also is used when working with the heart, reproductive system, spleen, kidney, and the circulatory system. I have some rose quartz pyramids and raw stones in my room and by my bed because I love the energetic vibration of love and self-love.
Citrine has a warm and joyful vibration. It is used to transform negative energy, anger, and cleanse the aura. It has been called the “Merchant’s Stone” for attracting prosperity and abundance. Citrine is often used with the solar plexus chakra, which associates with personal power- energizing power of the sun. Citrine is also said to support the endocrine system, digestive system, spleen, and pancreas. I often use citrine when I want to manifest abundance, and I am calling it in.

How to Clear and Charge Your Crystals
When you first acquire them and bring them home it’s important to clear them because you don’t know what kind of energy they are holding since crystals absorb energy easily. One method to clear your stones is using sage to banish negative energetic vibrations and to cleanse and purify. Another way is to put the stones in running water (Spring water is best, but if you don’t have it you can use faucet water. Do not use salt water as it can break certain stones down) and let your stones dry naturally. You can place them in the sun or the moon to dry and charge your crystals. The sun is masculine energy, and the moon is feminine energy. I often place all of my crystals out on full moons to charge them with the superpowers of the full moon. I then use them for my full moon meditations and rituals.
How I incorporate Crystals
I now use crystals in conjunction with Reiki treatments. I like to incorporate crystal grids to help concentrate and amplify the energy. I also like to use the tiny ones or the smaller ones for crystal grids and meditating. I find the round crystal balls and wands help to concentrate energy a little better for me. I continue to use crystals in my meditations.
