I am always asked how I manage- my life, my four kids (all boys), business, health, and great skin. Stress, disease and overwhelm seem to be the mode we all operate in our day to day lives. We are constantly on the go, wearing many hats, juggling many things, and taking on many responsibilities. However, I have a secret weapon I will share with you. Keep reading.
While there is no one contributing factor, the one practice is one that I want to share with you today because it has significantly improved my overall wellbeing, health, and mood, and reducing stress is the practice of grounding/earthing.
Grounding is one technique that can assist you in many capacities. Our beautiful, fantastic earth is like a vibrating ball of subtle, natural energy, like a huge battery. When we plug into the earth it recharges us. When we plug into it and recharge we can extract that energy to help us re-center, feel more balanced, stable, and rooted. I can’t stress enough how a quick grounding meditation has instantly helped me re-center, and shift my energy when I have been stressed out, overwhelmed, frustrated, angry, and sad. This is a practice that you will benefit from daily regardless of your mood or the situation. It is so important that you find a daily practice that is practical and that can help you to re-center, connect back to your body and nature, and recharge. I am all about practicality because I am busy, and I need practices that I can sustain.
A Grounding Meditation
I am going to guide you through a grounding and connecting meditation. You will be connected above and below. You can do the entire meditation or just the grounding part. It is best to be in nature and barefoot to feel the natural ground under you. You can stand or sit. When I can, I like to place my feet on the grass or dirt at my home. My favorite place is the sand at the beach. However, if you can’t, you can still do this meditation anywhere, anytime because it is a self-guided, visualization meditation.
Begin by closing your eyes and bringing that light (of the sun, moon, or a lite candle) inside of you. Began to come into a reconnection to your body. With your breath, bring your awareness to the point of contact beneath you. Breathing in deep into your hips, your bones, and then into your root chakra (the base of your spine). Feel yourself sinking into mother earth. Breathe in deep while you open yourself up to receiving the blessings that are in store for you today. Feel mother earth supporting you. Feel yourself strong, stable, and feel yourself just as you are. Just be, while you simultaneously bring your awareness to your feet or your sit bones. Now imagine big, strong roots growing from your feet, or sit bones, start to root deep within mother earth. Feel the different types of textures and temperatures as your roots grow. Feeling the soil, gravel, and any other surfaces that come into mind as your roots continue to reach down further within mother earth until you reach that place in the center of the earth, that place that feels like love, like mother’s love. Allow that same place of love and support to travel back up through your roots. Now, bring that energy back up your roots and allow it to enter into your body starting you’re your feet, through your legs, stomach, heart, chest, arms, and all the way up through your spine to the top your head, your crown. Next, you will take that energy up higher and higher. Begin to visualize the energy you brought in through the earth and into your body going up through the air, sky, and the cosmos, and bringing your awareness into the Celestial realms. Open up, surrender to change, surrender to the connection. Like a beam of light coming down from above and surround yourself with this light as you now bring your awareness from this place above and back down into your center. Into your body your skin your organs, open your heart space. Focus your energy and light there in your heart space. Breathe in love and support, breathe out stress, fear, and negativity. Now place one hand on your heart and one hand on your stomach. Allow for the reconnection of your body and your breath. Feel your breath rising and falling in your belly. Feel the pulse of your heart in your hand. Breathe in love, exhaling love. Breathe in love, exhaling love. Breathe in love, exhale love.
